Later adapted into a series of films, this classic children’s story offers a heartbreaking look into the value of friendship and strength. One of two novels written by the author, this one will surely stay with you for a long time after you are done.

4.) The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells

A classic science fiction novel by one of the initial innovators of the genre, this book has been adapted multiple times—including a radio drama by Orson Welles that shocked and scared a nation!
