We here at OWL Educational Services believe in starting off the new year with fun, educational resolutions that will inspire students to continue in a life of learning. With that in mind we have prepared a small checklist of activities that families can implement in their 2021 plans.

1.) Start a Reading Journal

Take a composition book, spiral notebook, or even a steno book, and keep track of the books you read throughout the year. It’s a fun way of keeping up with your reading goals, and helps you to remember any interesting lines or characters you find along the way.

2.) Visit One Museum or Historical Landmark a Month

Go to the Air and Space Museum, or to Colonial Williamsburg or Jamestown. Visit the Alamo, or any one of the hundreds of historical or educational sites here in the United States. You can learn so much, and have fun while you do it!

3. Watch One Classic Film a Week

There are many classic films worth watching. Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, North by Northwest, the classic black and white Beauty and the Beast—these are all cinematic treasures that will grant the viewer a rich cultural experience.

4. Learn a New Language

With literally dozens of online course for low cost (or even free), there’s no better time than now to learn a new language. Particularly useful are the languages Spanish and Mandarin; with the ever increasing expansion of multiculturalism and an exchange of values and ideas, being able to communicate with more people is a valuable skill to have.

And in case no one else has told you yet, Happy Year 2021 from OWL Educational Services!
